Haircut, Birthday, and a Road Race

Ok, so it has been awhile and I'm a little behind. Here is a quick post with lots of pictures!
Lincoln was in desperate need of a big boy haircut, especially since Sydni could put it into a ponytail!! So here is a before pic...

During... I cut it out on the back porch. He did really well but was pretty much done with the whole thing by the time this pic was taken!

Here is the big boy hair!

On Sept. 4th our first baby turned 9 years old... yes, 9!!!!!
The day was all hers. We started off with opening gifts and cards.

To hang over her bed...

To decorate her walls...
To stay up late...
I mean, to read! This girl loves to read!
Mom took her to the mall to spend her birthday money...
on earrings, lots of earrings,
a necklace,
lipgloss, lots of lipgloss,
2 outfits,
and a pair of shoes!!!
Mom was tired!
Then we went to her choice for lunch...
Ribs from Applebees!!

Then we had cake & ice cream for dinner!
I didn't get a picture before I put the candles in, but the cake is supposed to be a purse.
She was surprised by the sparkler candles!
She also got another gift from Salyna's parents when they came to visit...
they painted her room!!! Sorry, don't have a pic of that, but it vaguely resembles a giant bottle of Pepto Bismol being dumped on the wall!!!
Just this past weekend Davis ran his first road race. It was a 5K, that is 3.1 miles!!
It started and finished at a wildlife park, which was pretty neat for the rest of the family.
He was up EARLY and excited!!

Salyna's dad is a runner and was here to share in the 1st race!
Grandpa giving Davis some advice about the crowded start...
like, don't get run over or trip anyone!
Waiting for the start.... it was a beautiful morning!!
Finishing!!! A lot sooner than we thought!
Recovering with water and oranges.
His first reaction was "I'm tired"
secondly, "I like running this kind of race better than track"
Something must have been inherited from Grandpa!!
So his offical stats were...
26:42, yes that is 26 minutes and 42 seconds for 3.1 miles!!!
He was the youngest runner.
He placed 4th is his age division which was 19 yrs & under
Just to get an idea...
1st was 17 yrs. old
2nd was 18yrs.
3rd was 17yrs.
4th was 7 yrs.
5th was 13yrs.
It was pretty exciting and fun for the whole family. We stayed for a couple hours after the race to enjoy the wildlife park!
This kangaroo that Sydni was checking out had a baby in it's pouch that kept poking it's head out.
This was Lincoln's first outing with the monkey backpack instead of the stroller. He did great!
Up close and personal with animals was pretty cool!
So I hope it won't be so long until the next post but life is kind of crazy!
Salyna's parents left this morning and we have friends coming in 3 days for the next weekend.
Then Grandpa Kennedy (Miles Grandpa) will be here the beginning of October.
Baby will be here before we know it!!!
And it looks like "Amelia" is winning out... stay tuned!!!
